Cosworth partners with Hyundai for 2012 SEMA Show Concept Cars

SEMA Show October 30 - November 2, 2012

Today, Cosworth announced a first-time partnership with Hyundai to showcase a Genesis Coupe total vehicle concept and Veloster engine development.  These 2012 SEMA Show concepts go hand-in-hand with Cosworth's engineering excellence in providing technologies and services that support manufacturer goals.

The Hyundai Genesis Coupe concept, known as Cosworth Genesis Racing Series (CGRS) takes the 3.8-liter, direct-injected engine to racecar performance, with a 389 horsepower at 6400 rpm and torque of 325 lb.-ft at 5100 rpm.  This unique collaboration includes enhanced engine control parameters, optimization of the exhaust and induction systems and improved thermal management. The eye-catching exterior accents the Cosworth blue finish while the interior provides the luxury expected from a Cosworth total vehicle concept.

Cosworth also provides the engine performance enhancements for the Hyundai Design and Technical Center "Velocity" Veloster concept. Cosworth development focuses strictly on engine development that takes the 1.6-liter, direct-injected Hyundai 4-cylinder engine to 400 horsepower. This extensive performance upgrade includes a state-of-the-art turbocharger, custom stainless steel turbo manifold, increased-flow fuel injectors, custom fuel rail, upgraded fuel pump, larger throttle-body intake manifold, and custom charge-piping intercooler.  In addition, the performance tuning will encompass Cosworth's powerful SQ6 engine management electronic system with custom wire harness.
